The three main strains I do believe came from different parts of the world each evolving to the point of speciation but never reaching it. Ruderalis is from more northern areas and is typically considered weaker. It is different in that the plant auto flowers meaning it does not use day night cycles to determine when to flower it just does flowers after a set amount of time. The plant is mixed with other strains for the purpose of the variant being strong and auto flowering.

It is extremely expensive, and tightly regulated, only being available to people with a legitimate illness such as a chemotherapy patient or a person who has persistent nausea. The form of cannabis is synthetic, and actual drug trails with the real thing are still underway.

The scientific name for the plant usually associated with the street drug marijuana is Cannabus sativus which is the Indian hemp plant. The active (medically speaking, pain killing) ingredient is tetrahydrocannabinol, often called THC. The medical profession usually refers to this substance as cannabis, or medical cannabis to distinguish it from the often spiked and impure street version known as pot.
