No. You are not entitled to be paid for any time you did not work. If your employer chooses to pay you, you are receiving a benefit and not something to which you are entitled.
It certainly can and does dependent upon the year. the ski hill closes down April 15th for the season and it can snow through april.
It is a special item that can be looted from jobs and fighting in Moscow before Moscow closes.
I don't believe anybody is required to use snow tires. In fact, some states recommend that you don't use snow tires unless the conditions are bad due to the fact that they can damage/wear the roadways.
yes if the company cancels work due to snow or you show up and they send you home because of the weather..
To start a snow removal business, you will need some employees and a snow plow or shovel, depending on how big of a snow removal service you'd like your business to become. You will also need a business license and perhaps insurance.
Level 1- A Level One Snow Emergency means that roads (township and county, mainly secondary) are hazardous with the possibility of blowing and drifting snow. Roads are icy and drivers should use caution, if they choose to drive.Level 2- A Level Two Snow Emergency means that roads are hazardous (including primary roads) with blowing and drifting snow a possibility. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be on these roadways. Employees should contact their employers to see if they should report to work.Level 3- A Level Three Snow Emergency means that roads are closed to all non-essential personnel. No one should be out during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on any roadway in the county may subject themselves to citation or arrest.

if i were to think of the most common employer of snow hydrologists, i would go with weather forecasting companies, or companies who use materials from the earth, such as mining corporations. They need to know how the snow movement could effect the people in the communities or the sites they are using.
Hi. office closings along the circumstances you describe are similar and can be compared to a situation where there's some natural disaster, or extreme circumstances that force an employer to shut down for a few hours (or sometimes even a few days, or more). The fact that an organization was impacted by the set of circumstances in only one office/location, is not relevant. The treatment of employees' wages in this type of scenario depends on the exempt/non-exempt status of the workers affected by the events. If the employee is exempt, and worked any portion of the work week, he/she should be paid their full salary, regardless of shut down (this is also the case if an office closes for several hours due to a snow storm, for example). However, in cases where an employee is non-exempt, then the employer does not have to pay the affected employee for the time the office is not operational (bearing in mind that if an employer takes deductions from a non-exempt salaried employee - this might impact the manner in which overtime is later calculated)
It is an entry vestibule used to shut out cold air, high wind or drifting snow after the exterior door closes and before the inside door is opened.
The rims in the Canyon are about 2400 meters above sea level, and can get quite cold during the winter season. The all time record for GC Airport is -29 F (!) but that was during a freak cold front. Freezing temperature occur every winter at the South Rim, and the North Rim closes for months each winter, due to heavy snow.
