Med schools accept a variety of degrees, however science based degrees are probably preferred and prepare you better. If you want to become a doctor, there are several types of bachelor's degrees you can persue. However, you usually become involved in a "pre-med" curriculum during it. This may entail majoring in chemistry, Biology, materials or chemical engineering, etc. For example, you would say that your major was, "Biology, pre-med." Once you graduate with your bachelor's degree, you need to take the MCAT test, and apply for medical school. After four years of med school you will usually be involved in an internship and residency that leads you into your independance as a doctor.
