It has 5 foreward gears and a lock up converter.
A turbo 350 has only 3 gears. The 700R4 has 3 gears plus over drive and lock-up converter. And it is the same as a 400 turbo with overdrive.
This is the anti-lock breaks self-adjusting. Perfectly normal.
Kuz u need a new one
no, mainly locks just before overdrive, unlocks when downshifts and when braking
1st, 2nd, drive, overdrive, and lock up ( that's in the torque converter )
for one do not put oil on your transmission it takes transmission fluid which is not just an oil lubricant look the specs up online and you'll be able to by it at autozone oh and don't let it go dry it'll lock up your transmission or ruin your gears.
It almost $500
Check to make sure that the shift linkage is adjusted properly. If not, the linkage may not be able to move the gears inside the transmission enough to properly engage. I have a Daytona that has a procedure to lock the transmission in a known position, the shift cables are loosened at the shifter, and two rods are placed in the shifter to lock it in a corresponding known position. Then the cables connecting the two are tightened down, the 'locks' are removed, and everything is good to go. Check to see if the linkage on the transmission or in the gear shifter inside the car is bent. Check to see if something is interfering with the shift linkage. Could be a hose or something in the way. You may have to open the transmission if the remedies above didn't fix it. Something may be bent inside the transmission preventing the gears from engaging properly.
Broken gears. The differential or ring gear or pinion gears are broken.
The purpose of the automatic transmission is that is shifts for you. You'll want to lock your transmission into your ideal gear for going up and down steep inclines to prevent it from downshifting, but, other than that, you typically let the computer do the shifting for you.
