I wouldn't. A sealed court case is done by a Judge, probably in this case to protect your child or children. The school has no RIGHT to see what a Judge has sealed. I'd call the attorney you had for the divorce and ask what kind of document you can get only regarding proof of and legal assignment of custody to you. IF you must provide the sealed document, I'd first make a COPY and take a black marker and draw a thick line through everything EXCEPT NAMES, COURT DOCKET #, DATE OF DECISION, THE CUSTODY PARAGRAPH, AND THE END OF THE DOCUMENT WITH THE SIGNATURES. (A redacted document.) After blackening all portions that are private on the COPY, then Xerox the copy so no one can try to see through the blackened sections. The financial arrangements, marital debts, division of marital property, and any marital "allegations" or "determination" about marital issues is NOT the school's business!

You should visit the court and obtain assistance from the clerk, depending on what information the school needs from that decree. Then, the court can draft an official court certified document that includes only the information the school needs. Generally, a school only needs to know who has legal custody.

Who claims the children at tax time if there is joint custody the one with physical custody or the other one?

Your divorce decree should outline who gets to claim the children on their taxes. If your decree does not outline it, you will just have to come up with an agreement on your own with the other parent.

No. You will need a custody order that allows you to move. Seek an attorney and file for custody. The burden of proof will be on you to show that it is in the best interests of the children to relocate.

Does a divorce decree mention dependent children?

I am a paralegal for the state of South Carolina. Here a judge must state if there are children of the marriage union in the divorce decree. Of course it does, that is a highly relevant issue that would need to be addressed(custody, support, visitation etc) during the proceeding.
