Planets are not formed by exploding stars!

Planets are formed of the material left behind as a star forms from the dust and gasses of a collapsing molecular cloud.

A distant exploding star may provide the initial compression wave that triggers the collapse of the molecular cloud leading to the formation of new stars and the planets around them. But there are other mechanisms having nothing to do with stars that might trigger this also.
