If you are talking about a third party such as a friend there is no need to have them believe you are in a relationship or not because you know you are and don't have to prove it's true. If you are talking about being with someone and you care a lot for them, but they feel seeing each other doesn't mean you are in a relationship then you will have to take them at their word and realize there is no relationship other than possibly friendship.
