There is no such latitude as "170° south". The greatest latitude is 90°, whether it's
north or south. 90° north is the north pole. 90° south is the south pole.
But ... whenever any location has a latitude that includes the word "south",
that location is in the southern hemisphere.
All of New Zealand is in the Eastern Hemisphere, and also in the Southern Hemisphere.
