The pregnancy test will be positive if you have a high enough HCG hormone level, so even if your fetus dies, those hormones will be present in your blood/urine, just in less amounts. A quantitative blood test at the doctor's would be able to tell if you should have a higher hormone level than is actually there- indicating a possible miscarriage.
