I would check your anti-freeze level first and if its good i would proceed to changing your water pump & thermostat considering if I'm not mistaking its a 60k maintenance job and if that still fails it might be your heater core which is time consuming and expensive to change. (i have a little bit of knowledge towards this but I would check with a professional because I'm not one)
There is coolant in the engine block when the engine is not running. The engine block, heater, hoses and radiator remain full when engine is not running.
The heater in your car uses waste heat from the engine to heat the car. When the engine is not running there is no heat to distribute.
Yes it will, engine coolant still flows through it when engine is running.
Take both heater hoses off at the heater and the hose running from the front, attach it to the rear of the engine.
AnswerBad thermostat, clogged heater core, or a defective heater control switch. If an engine has not been running long it will not have warmed up, the warmth from a car heater usually comes from the engine.
the heater core is behind the dash board
The heater control valve is on the left hand side of the engine bay, under the air intake duct. it has two heater hoses running to it and one vacuum line running to it.
The heater in your car uses waste heat generated by the engine. The hot coolant from the engine flows through the heater core causing it yo get hot. A fan then blows air over the hot heater core into the vehicle.
I dont know about your specific car but its usually located on one of the hoses coming from the heater core, on the firewall, behind the engine.
Start buy checking you coolant level. If it is low the you may have a leak, and this may be causing your heat not to work properly. Secondly, watch your engine temperature gauge to make sure that your engine is reaching normally operating temperature. If your engine is running too cold then you need to check your thermostat and heater core.
No you can not, It is under to much pressure when engine is running. NEED to REPLACE IT.
Maybe it is out of antifreeze? If older car, maybe you need the radiator and heater flushed.
