you cannot get a rental under your policy if you did not purchase that coverage............if you are repairing your vehicle under your collision coverage rather than under the physical damage portion of the 'At Fault' drivers policy..........you will owe your deductible.........your company should subrogate the other carrier for your ded.amount they paid, and any out of pocket money you've spent on rental.........if liablity has been determined you can get a rental from other company as well as have them repair your vehicle thus no deductible......

If a truckdriver hits a car who pays the deductible the driver or the owner of the truck?

THE POLICY HOLDER, WHO IS USUALLY THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEDUCTIBLE. If the truck driver is fully responsble for the accident, his insurance should pay for the damages to the car and there would be no deductible. If the car owner went through his coverage first to get repairs done, then the car owner is responsible for the deductible. Then the car owners insurance would go through subrugation to the truck drivers insurance to get full payment of the loss. When that is completed, the car owner would get his deductible returned to him.

Which driver pays collision deductibles?

the owner/insured of the vehicle that has a collison claim is the one that pays/owes that deductible... deductibles only apply on your own vehicle repair...not the person's you hit (except for some commerical policys that have a deductible on their liabilty coverages)....now if you elect to use your coverage and another party is at fault, then some times they will 'front' the deductible (if liablity has been determined and they have accepted full liab.) or your company will subrogate then entire amount including your deductible from the at fault party once all repairs have been made...but assuming you are at fault or it was a hit and run and can't find other party and you are using your collison coverage, then you will owe your deductible

Home insurance policies cover all kinds of mishaps and repairs. The discount is called the deductible. When you purchase a policy you select a deductible amount of damage or loss that you pay for first and they pay the difference afterwards. Protect Your Car with Collision Car Insurance?

Drivers are always looking for ways to save money, whether that means switching cars, insurance companies, changing coverage limits, or removing coverages altogether, like collision insurance. Although it cost less to have a policy that only covers liability, in an accident, it may cost more to pay out of pocket for vehicle repairs than for the insurance. Liability insurance only covers the other driver, but for consumers who want to protect their vehicle, collison coverage is necessary. Collision insurance covers the policyholder's vehicle in a collision. Without this coverage, the policyholder's vehicle cannot be repaired or replaced by the insurance company, but from their own pocket.Obtaining Collision CoverageColliison coverage is easy to obtain. Most companies offer this coverage, though some deny this coverage to vehicles that are too old. It is best to contact a licensed insurance representative to purchase collision coverage along with the state required liability coverages. The agent will recommend a deductible, which is what the policyholder must pay before the insurance company covers the loss. Some companies allow their insureds to carry no deductible, but with most companies: the higher the deductible, the lower the premium. It is also wise to remember that the claim cannot be covered unless the amount of damages exceeds the amount of the deductible. For instance, a $300 repair will not be covered if the deductible is $500.Who Needs Collision CoverageNot everyone needs collision coverage. Older cars and vehicles that have been totaled are not worth much. However, what every consumer must consider is whether they have the money to replace or repair the vehicle themselves? If not, the cost of the coverage could be less than a repair. If the insured has a loan, collision coverage may even be required by the lienholder.Collision insurance protects the policyholder's vehicle. Without this coverage, the insured must pay out of pocket for repairs. This insurance can be obtained from a licensed agent; however not every driver needs this coverage. For those with newer vehicles, a loan, or who don't have the means to pay out-of-pocket cost, collision coverage should be on their policy.

Windshield replacement is generally included in comprehensive coverage, which provides for repairs to a vehicle that has been damaged in ways other than a collision. If you do have comprehensive coverage, refer to the policy for details regarding the deductible, which may apply. www.insurance.com

If someone hits your car and you have pl-pd insurance will their insurance cover your car if they were totally at fault?

Yes. eg: If you have pl/pd, the insurance won't pay for repairs for YOUR car if it is you fault, but they will pay the repairs for the other car There's the big problem of having only the required liability insurance. If you do not have comprehensive and collision, you may have to sue the at-fault driver to force his insurance carrier pay. If you have coverage of your own, you can file a claim with your agent and immediately collect the damages (less your deductible) and your company will sue his if necessary. If and when they win or receive a settlement, you will get your deductible back.
