Is moonlight created by the sun or the moon?

But, without the moon, there would be no moonlight, too.So, the answer is that moonlight occurs when sun reflects off the surface of the moon. It's kind of like the question of which came first--the chicken or the egg. In this case, though, it can reasonably be said that moonlight originates with the sun; thus, it is caused by the sun.
