When foreigners made contact with the Chinese, the Chinese initially viewed the foreigners with suspicion and often restricted their access to Chinese society. However, over time, trade and cultural exchange led to greater interaction and integration between China and the outside world.

The ban was usefull in keeping the race intanct.
