A blue roan horse is not actually blue, though they can look blue. They have a mixture of black and white hairs that appear gray or "blue".

They differ from gray horses because they are born blue and stay blue their entire lives. A gray horse is born a solid color, but gradually get more and more white hairs until they are completely white.

It is sometimes hard to tell a gray horse from a blue roan. One way to tell is to look at the head and around the eyes. In a gray horse, they will go white around the eyes first. A blue roan horse will keep a nearly black head no matter what age they are.

The foal of a bay horse and red roan horse could be: Bay, Chestnut/sorrel, black or a roan version of those colors. If the parents carry a dun gene, that is also a possibility. Which color depends entirely on the genes of both parents.

it will be a bay redy colour

Yes. Depending upon the genetics of each of the parent horses, it is possible for the base color to be black, and the foal to be a blue roan. A bay horse has both chestnut and black genes. A red roan has two chestnut genes. Each parent passes along only one of its genes. If the black gene is passed on by the bay, and there is nothing passed by either parent that restricts the black color to the horse's points, the foal will be black. If the foal is also roan, he will be a blue Roan.

Without knowing if the parents carry genes to produce chestnut color this is the

surmise.

The bay horse is AxEx: we don't know if the horse carries a (true black) or e (chestnut)

If we assume blue roan means true black roan we know that parent is aaRnxEe.

If the bay parent is AaEE 50% of the foals will be true black

If the bay parent is AAEE all foal will be bay.

If the bay parent is AAEe there is the potential to produce chestnut foals if the other

parent carries e at the extension site.

If the blue roan parent is heterozygous for roan 50% of the foals produced will be

roan

If the blue roan parent is homozygous for roan all foals will be roan.

Well...here is a simple explanation...

It depends on the genetics of the parents.

For this question I will start with 2 assumptions.

1. The definition of blue roan is a true black horse either aaEE or aaEe

2. The definition of red roan is chestnut roan which could be AAee, Aaee or

aaee.

Determining whether the foal will be roan is simple:

Apparently there is now information that Roan horses can be homozygous so if either parent is homozygous the foal will be Roan. If the parents are heterozygous then there is a 75% chance the foal will be Roan.

Determining body color is a bit more problematic:

If the blue roan parent is homozygous EE at the extension site the foal will be either

bay or black. If the blue roan parent is Ee the foal could be chestnut.

If we assume that blue roan means "true blue roan" (a black horse that is roan)

this parent's genotype could be aaEE or aaEe.

The chestnut parent could be AAee, Aaee or aaee.

aaEE X aaee will produce a black (aaEe) foal

aaEE X Aaee could produce (aaEe) or bay (AaEe) foal

aaEE X AAee will produce a bay (AaEe) foal

aaEe X aaee will produce a black(aaEe) or chestnut (aaee) foal

aaEe X Aaee could produce a bay (AaEe), black (aaEe) or chestnut (Aaee or aaee) foal

aaEe X AAee will produce a bay (AaEe) or a chestnut (Aaee) foal

Yes, this is possible. It is more likely to get a bay, bay roan, chestnut, or chestnut roan (red roan), but blue roan is a possibility.

No they cannot. The true classic roan gene does not exist in the Arabian breed, they can however have Rabicano type roaning.

What color horse will you get if you breed a strawberry roan stallion with a blue roan mare?

If either horse is homozygous for roan the foal will be roan, if both are heterozygous there is a 75% chance that the foal will be roan. If by strawberry roan you mean the stallion is a bay roan as opposed to a chestnut roan, we can surmise that the stallion is Rn-A-E- The mare is Rn-aaE- The base color of the foal, without regard to whether it is roan is as follows If the stallion or mare is EE at the extension site they will produce either a bay or black foal...since the stallion is bay he could be AA (only bay foals) or Aa which will produce 50-50 bay or black with this mare. If both the mare and the stallion are Ee at the extension site there is a 25% chance of a chestnut foal.

What color foal do you get when you breed a chestnut mare to a red roan?

You are likely to get a chestnuty/bay colour I think.

What two horses create a blue roan?

It's not necessarily which two 'horses' create a blue roan color as Blue roan is just that a color and not a breed, therefore any two horses with the correct genetics can create a foal with blue roan coloring. Roan is a modifying gene that affects a horses base color. A blue roans base color is black. Both parents should be black and one should at least carry the roan gene. If a horse is Heterozygous for roan (Rr) then it has a 50/50 chance of passing along the roan gene. If one of the parents was Homozygous for roan (RR) then it will pass it along 100% of the time. Homozygous roans are hard to find though. However you can increase your odds of getting a blue roan foal by breeding two blue roans together. There used to be an old theory that said breeding two homozygous roans together would cause the fetus to die in -utero, however this has been disproved. Remember color breeding is not an exact science and you can get any number of colors based on the parents genetics. Also breeding strictly for color is typically detrimental to a breed as color can sometimes become favored over correct conformation.

Where can you buy a blue roan foal on horseisle?

Black mare really black her only foal you know of was a brown She is bred to a strawberry roan for this spring any chance of getting a blue roan?

If the stallion carries the a gene and is heterozygous for roan your chances of a true blue roan are 50% if your mare is Ee. If she is EE there is no chance of a chestnut coated foal so the color of the foal will be controlled by the genetics of the stallion at the agouti site...either brown, bay or black.

If you breed a cremello stud with a sorrell mare what color would the foal be?

What color horse will you get if you breed a blue roan to grey?

The Jockey Club definition of roan is essentially the same as grey...which would mean that there would be a 75% to 100% chance of a horse that gradually turns white over a period of years reguardless of it's base coat color. If roan has true roan (Rn) genetics and the other parent is grey (G) we know that each parent has a 50% chance of transmitting their dominant gene (if both are heterozygous). This means that 25% chance of Roan 25% chance of Grey 25% chance of both Grey and Roan and a 25% chance of the foal being the base color only (base color could be black, chestnut, bay etc based on the parent's genetics at the Agouti and Extension sites). If one parent is homozygous the foal have that characteristic 100% of the time and the foal will also have the other characteristic 50% of the time.
