I just had to do a project exactly on this, When you snap a glow stick a chemical change happens. A glow stick has an outer tube (the bendy one) and an inner glass tube (the one you hear cracking). By snapping a glow stick you are cracking open the inner tube which hold chemicals, the outer tube has phenyl oxalate and fluorescent dye in it, and the inner glass tube has a hydrogen peroxide solution in it. When these chemicals are released and come together, it releases energy in the form of light, thus, making a chemical change. So when you do your favorite activity with a glow stick, cracking it (admit it, it's your favorite part), you are breaking the inner glass tube, which then releases the hydrogen peroxide solution into the phenyl oxalate/dye solution, creating an enchantingly glowing stick of light! hope this was helpful! - Jessica
Just for the sake of clarity: you have an item. It uses technology that you do not understand. It emits an eerie glow. Naturally, you cut it open and pour it all over yourself. Is that more or less what happened? In this case, you got lucky; you most likely haven't sterilized yourself (though I'd recommend you stay away from nuclear reactors). What you have done is gotten a fluorescent dye on ... well, whatever you put it on. Treat it like any other stain. (If you haven't already washed it thoroughly with water, that would probably be a good idea.)
A CRT TV picture tube will glow under black. Usually it will be a blue/white glow. I once had a black & white TV screen which glowed orange! Tahini glows under a blacklight, Kraft Dinner (it really does, try it! it's the orange powder!) Most energy drink glows, and gin tonic too. I've noticed that when i was in a rave. Semen glows. Hi-liters, fluorescent paints and dyes. White paper and fabric that has been bleached. scorpions clothes Most stamps Here is a list of some of the fun things I found at home that glow under blacklight: Talc powder Toothpaste Fishing gear Cotton buds Olive oil Turmeric Honey Fairy liquid Rock salt Tomato ketchup £20 notes

you stick your genitals in the cd-rom drive and repeatedly press close and open
They are safe as long as the chemicals stay inside the plastic cover. Do not open or cut the glow sticks keep the chemicals inside where they can not be ingested.
