If you cut open a 75 mcg Fentanyl patch and eat the gel how much can you eat if you have a very high opiate tolerance?

why in the world would you want to eat the gel in the patch? Let me guess you want to get high..I hope you know that can be extremely dangerous.If you want the real answer to your question call the Poisson control..i just hope some one else doesn't have to do that for you because you were being a complete idiot!!!
The above respondent was right. Eating a Duragesic patch is pretty damn dangerous, especially to your liver. I've been using Duragesic 100 mcg/hr patches for nearly two years now, for severe spinal damage from a fall and I have a couple of mates who tried eating my used patches for a buzz, and they both did serious damage to their respective livers..not recommended at all!!

No - anything that insulates the patch can cause body heat to increase in the patch area, which will increase the dosage delivery rate of the patch. If you don't have a really high opiate tolerance above what your normal dosage is, an overdose is a real possibility. Even for someone with a high opiate tolerance, it's not fun - delirium/confusion is the usual result, and it's extremely disorienting, even when you know what's happening. The only way to deal with it is to remove the patch and get yourself cooled off to lower body temperature. Just don't fold the patch - you CAN re-apply it if the edges are intact. Duragesic and other Fentanyl patches contain Fentanyl suspended in a gel solution, which is delivered transdermally over a 2-3 day period to the patient. Since it's a timed-release drug, cutting the patch and eating the gel bypasses the timed-release function and instantly gives the person a massive dose of Fentanyl, which even for highly opiate tolerant patients like myself, can be extremely dangerous or fatal. For most who are on high doses, the effects are usually confusion or delirium; for those who aren't opiate tolerant or use drugs like Cocaine or Heroin, the effects are usually fatal, since Fentanyl is 100 times stronger than Morphine. Fentanyl users have the drug in their systems 24/7, and as such, build up a very high tolerance to its effects. Patient who start using it have already used other opiates for some time, and already have a high tolerance before using it. Those who aren't regular users and aren't tolerant to the effects usually die of respiratory or cardiac arrest, or a combination of both. The most common cause of death though is ignorance and a lack of respect for how powerful an opiate Fentanyl is.

Depending oon your tolerance to the opiod in fentanyl...if you have a strong tolerance for abuse of opiods-then nothing, maybe intoxication. If you have an average drug tolerance for opiods- then maybe you'd be high to feel euphoric. If you have no tolerance to oplods, chances are you'll overdose and if you do not get proper treatment...you'll die.

DO NOT EVER MIX FENTANYL WITH ANY OTHER OPIATE!! I had 2 grand mal seizures and almost died, plus I don't remember almost 2 years of my life from mixing Fent. with other opiates. If you HAVE to get high, just stay away from fentanyl!! And mixing suboxone with any other opiate is STUPID. The suboxone BLOCKS the BRAIN RECEPTORS THAT ALLOW YOU TO FEEL HIGH. If you are lucky enough to get a script for it, USE IT and quit f'n around.

to get high if you cut it open and lick it or rub it on your mouth its absorbed right away the patch is time release through the patch eight to twelve hrs so if some one is doing this its probably to get high

No, they are both synthetic but the pain relief is not the same. They are both long lasting pain relievers but the Methadone is less expensive and My understanding is not as effective for severe pain. I take Duragesic (Name Brand Fentanyl) 100mcg patch every 48 hours it does help with the pain but I sweat bad! Don't expect a high it is just for long term pain relief. If you do not have insurance it is expensive and the Generic did not work for me. I do not like the fact that they are synthetic, I felt more comfortable with natural opiates but I built up a tolerance.
