Yes. However if you download iTunes again you will just be updating it to the newest version. No music will be lost. You can use the Check For Updates option in the iTunes menu which will give you the latest version. Or check Software Update from the Apple menu which will check all your default software for newer versions.

You can't, they were created with the later version of iTunes. The latest is 8.2 and just download that, why wouldn't you. If you are trying to use multi -plugin it won't work anyway.
of course. the .mp3 file you get from limewire can be played using any media player, no matter what version. I have the new itunes (8) and my music downloaded from limewire works perfectly.
