All I know is it hurts for a while. The toxin's in the plant linger in the area of the puncture. My daughter was stuck recently on the ankle and if she moves her foot/ankle in a certain way she screams out in pain...a pain that lasts quite a while. We are still unsure of how to deal with this pain or what we can do to make it better for her , also how long it will take before she is free of this pain. If you have any answers please let us know?!
Agave is a plant, similar to a cactus. Vegetable.
As far as I know the only alcoholic beverages made from Agave (not a cactus) are Mezcal and Tequila. Agave is a succulent, not a cactus.
It is not a cactus at all, it is the Blue Agave that is used to make tequila. Agave plants are succulents not cacti.
You are referring to the Blue Agave, which is actually not a cactus at all. It is a member of the lily family.
Better (and the best) tequilas are distilled from 100% blue agave. However, by law, liquors can still be called tequila if they are made from more than 50% blue agave and the remainder from cane sugar. These tequilas are referred to as mixtos.
A systemic fungicide may be used on cactus and succulents such as agave (Agave spp).Specifically, a copper sulfate solution traditionally has been used. But nowadays it tends not to be a recommended control. Copper tends to accumulate in the soil and be toxic to plants.
The maguey is not a cactus but, rather, an agave. The size would depend upon the species and there are many.
Tequila (it is still made)
No. Tequila is made from Agave, and sugar. (Agave is a cactus type desert plant, similar to Yucca in appearance.)
During the 1940s and 1950s, they made furniture from the cholla (aka jumping cactus) plant. That included those lamps that had the cactus skeleton as the base. Tequila is made from agave cacti.
TEQUILA, an alcoholic beverage (usually associated with Mexico), made from the agave plant (which resembles a cactus, but is not).
Agave technically isn't a fruit it is a perennial It kind of looks like a cross between a cactus and a palm tree and similar to Aloe Vera. It has wide, flat, green leaves, that grow in a bunch on the ground.
