I would call the doctor to be sure. But as far as what I have heard, it does still work. A lot of people i know get weird cycles BECAUSE of the depo shot
No.
Yes, you can get a hysterectomy while Depo Provera is still in effect.
yes, a period is not necessary for ovulation.
Bare in mind that the Depo stops your menstrual cycle for several months - you may experience irregular bleeding while on the Depo. Once you come off Depo it takes time for your hormones to regulate again to have a normal menstrual cycle, during this time menstruation can be heavier than normal due to hormonal imbalance.
There are several things that can cause an irregular cycle while on depo. One is antibiotics, as they can cause a decrease in the strength of most forms of birth control. Most antibiotics will warn you about this on their information insert. Another probability is a high level of stress, temporary or long-term, has caused your body to cycle while on depo. If niether of these sound like the cause, I would recommend seeing your doctor or OB/GYN, because STDs can also cause you to cycle while on depo. Good luck. :)
Yes
You are supposed to get the shot when you are on your period to make sure you aren't pregnant, but you still need your yearly exam and the doctors dont want you on your period for that.
Yes. Sometimes doctors will even prescribe you the Microgynon whilst on the Depo Provera, to help and settle side effects of the Depo such as prolonged bleeding. The Microgynon helps to reset your period while on the Depo. Results are usually effective but not in every case. If you are still experiencing prolonged bleeding after this contact your GP for alternative options.
You can start depo provera at any time in your cycle, then return for the next injection about twelve weeks later.
While the birth control patch will create a cycle of monthly withdrawal bleeding, it will not get depo provera out of your system sooner. But if you'd like to see a monthly bleed, the patch will help with that.
There is no typical time that it takes to start menstruating after stopping the Depo shot. While some women will bleed within a week or so, it can take others months before their menstrual cycle resumes.
When I was on the shot I never had a cycle.
