You create a sound mix in surround. You then Bounce the Master as a PCM file. Use Compressor to create a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio file (AC3) and then you can use DVD Studio Pro or iDVD to burn the audio to a DVD.
If you want to add surround audio to a video file, use Soundtrack Pro, which is included with Logic Studio.
Delay Designer 5.1 (digital delay) and Space Designer 5.1 (reverb) are the two surround effects for surround mixes. They can only be used on surround channels.

Check in the menu of the av receiver, it should have a setting for surround sound DTS and/or Dolby Pro-Logic. The program has to be made in surround for you to get true surround in your home.

There are several software applications that you can use for audio sound tracks including AudioDirector 4 and GoPro Studio. For Macs there is GarageBand, Logic Pro as well as Pro Tools.
check your surround sound if it has an HDMI or AV input jacks. if it has, then you are good to go. from your satellite receiver, attach the HDMI cable or AV cable. connect it to your surround sound. after connecting the satellite receiver box and surround sound, attach the HDMI or AV cable from the surround sound to your television.
Connect your PS3 to your TV then connect you surround sound to your TV.
I tried to do this and there is no way you can have surround sound on that tv.
