Might Show Up On Credit HistoryMost banks do not report customers to CRAs. There are a few that do but most do not, especially for an NSF. If the account is turned over to collections at a later time then it might be more likely to be reported by the collection agency.

Banks do not report your transaction history to CRAs unless your bank account is closed due to any of the following reasons below. They will report you to Chexsystems which will also report you to the 3 major CRAs.

  1. Account Abuse - Under this category includes excessive unpaid overdrafts, and excessive NSF and UCF. Certain banks will close your account if they feel you have too many NSFs and see that you are a high risk customer.
  2. Fraud
  3. ATM Abuse

No, a NSF (non-sufficient funds) on your checking account will not show up on your credit history. Credit histories are typically used to track your borrowing and repayment activities, while a NSF is a result of a transaction being rejected due to insufficient funds in your checking account.

View my chase checking account number on credit report?

Personal checking accounts will not show up on your credit report. If you have a Chase credit card, you will see some information about the card like reported balance, status, and maybe the current APR on your report, but you won't see any information about to the checking account you use to pay the bill...

Do you need a checking account or will a prepaid debit card work?

I'm assuming here that this question is being asked in order to improve one's FICO. Neither will directly work in that neither type of acct. is reported to CRAs. However, a checking acct. indirectly affects one's FICO because it is needed in order to show a payment history to a creditor such as credit card. Prepaid debit cards have no affect on credit reports.

How can you determine a banks earnings credit rate business?

Have the bank fax over an Account Analysis Statement. It should show all of the up to 87 different fees that they charge including those for "free checking" (LOL) accounts. It should also show the "Earnings Credit Rate". Its probably a good idea to the "Earnings Credit Rate" specifically when you request the Account Analysis Statement. These fees are important because they account for a large percentage of bank revenue.

What does insufficient credit history mean?

In accounting why the reverse principle is not possible - debit the the giver and credit the receiver?

The best way to explain this is by example: Wells fargo Bank has your bank account. Your account is a liability for them since this is not truly their money and it is obligated to you the account holder......so when they increase your account, they post a credit to it. Because to increase their liabilities they have to credit it......and when you use your debit card and decrease your account then wells fargo debits your account to remove the money. For you as the account holder your checking account is your asset......so if you were tracking your accounting in a program.....and you wanted to show where you deposited money into your account in your system then you would post a debit to increase your cash account.

If your daughter's name is on your checking account and she is filing bankruptcy will your checking account be involved in any way?

It is likely the account will have to be partitioned; meaning the parties will need to show proof to the BK trustee of the amount of funds belonging to each account holder.

Will closing a 16 year old credit card account with an excellent payment history and a 18500.00 credit limit in order to get a card with a much better interest rate affect your credit rating?

Closing a 16 year old seasoned credit card account with an excellent payment history will NEVER improve your credit. As a matter of fact, opening a new credit account will also temporarily reduce your score. If you need a lower rate, call your current credit card company and request it. It is a much better solution that can save you money on interest. The following link can show how to request a lower interest rate on your current credit card account.

Is it better to have an account removed from your credit report completely or to negotiate for 'Paid As Agreed'?

In the case of a collection account, it is always in your best interest to have the tradeline completely removed from your credit report as opposed to having it show paid. If the account is NOT a collection or P&L, then the opposite may be true. Let's say you have a credit card with 6 late payments being reported to your credit history. You negotiate with your creditor to have all the late payments removed from the tradeline, showing that it has been paid as agreed, never late. This would be better then to have the entire tradeline removed, as the now clean payment history will help to raise your FICO score. Having it removed will not have as positive an effect. You will lose all the credit history associated with the tradeline, as well as (if it is a revolving account), available credit. Not having sufficient credit history can be just as detrimental as having bad credit. Hope this helps!
