You will need to replace the intire intake Gasket if you are SURE it is leaking were the gasket goes. On most of those engines it will be a BAD intake and Ford redesigned the intake manifold. But it sounds like it has already been replaced scents it has got the alum. crossover bar.
You need to look real close at the gaskets.
Front passenger side of intake, below plastic Covering. Just below coolant crossover tube. Interior gauge sensor is on the drivers side, of the front of the intake, just below the coolant crossover tubeRead more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/FAQ/811-9#ixzz1jtDpX7sl

These engines do not blow head gaskets. You need to replace the black plastic intake or plenum. They will leak coolant into the combustion chamber. Some roge mechanics will tell you it's head gaskets to get you to pay more money. Remove upper intake, remove spark plugs to get coolant out and replace and fill with coolant.
On my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, the coolant level sensor in the radiator near the battery would get gummed up. You can lower the coolant level in the radiator, remove the battery, and remove the sensor. Clean it and replace the coolant. I was having to do this yearly. One common problem on these Pontiacs is a leaking plastic lower intake manifold gasket set. A small amount of oil can contaminate the coolant and lead to this build up on the sensor and thus the coolant light illuminated. I changed the l.i.m. gaskets on my car with the improved all aluminum replacement gasket set. In my opinion, this is a very good engine but why GM went with these plastic gaskets is beyond me!!
Head gaskets do not go bad on these. You need to replace the plastic upper intake manifold as it is leaking coolant into the combustion chamber. Common problem for this engine.
intake blown, there plastic and are famous for that, only needs to be replaced and you wont have anymore problems,if you dont youll have sticking valves, etc. coolant going to head, sticking valves
Coolant is added to the plastic reservoir under the hood.
Repairing it is a bad idea. Many have tried, few, if any, have succeeded. The best option is to replace it with the new, improved manifold design that has an aluminum coolant crossover. The new manifold is less than $200 and you can do the repair yourself in about 4 hours. There are some detailed, step-by-step instructions at the link below... http://www.autoclinix.com/Manifold.htm I would recommend the Dorman part (available from Autozone, Advance Auto, O'Reilly's, Ebay, etc.) over the Ford replacement part since the Dorman manifold has built-in O-rings and does not require the use of intake gaskets like the Ford part. I've done this repair on 2 cars using the Dorman manifold and it fits perfect and, so far, has held up well. Hope this helps. ...
No, the factory gaskets are a plastic design. you can find a great write up on changing the gaskets and pictures of what the factory ones compared to the felpros are like.on the link below
In many cases, plastic has replaced glass in bottles and building materials. Plastic has replaced some metal on cars.
When you open the bonnet the coolant is the plastic bottle at the back of the engine
