Is it common to get a gap between your two front teeth whilst having braces?

Not as you think. First of all, braces apply a constant and slight pressure to move teeth over an extended period of time. This time depends solely on the severity of your treatment. Second, I am 15 and I wear braces. They were only painful when they put them on and when I go to have them tightened. Third, the braces will push your two front teeth towards each other first and then into their proper positions. They will only push them down slightly, but more if they stick up much farther then they should. After the treatment is over, they should no longer protrude out of your mouth or have spacing between them. I hope this was bale to clarify a few things.

∙ 11y agoWell, You are most likely to get braces if you have a gap in your two front teeth and you would need a full set of braces ! But the good thing is that when your sixteen your teeth will be nice and straight with no gaps! This is because having the braces in for two years really makes a good difference! I am getting a full set of braces in a few weeks , not just because my front two teeth have a gap in them but also to straighten my teeth! Don't worry and let the dentists do their job. :)

yes you can breathe whilst you are having braces put on but it is a bit hard. the dentist will give you breaks in between to have water.

I found that the bands actually hurt a lot more than the actual braces...in fact putting the braces on was a piece of cake... :) i agree, i mean i have bands on ATM and im getting more braces (traintracks) in two days time and the pulling of the teeth from the bands is extremely painful and, as all my mates have traintracks, apprantley the actual braces don't hurt as much and the only thing that hurts when getting your braces on is the numbness in your butt when you have to sit there for an hour whilst the dentist puts the braces on :)
