Ive had the same problem. If it shows up a black screen, but you can see the bottom bar, wait a little bit, then press ctrl+alt+delete and click Task Manager. you should see a blue screen and the sims will play if u wait a bit while it is loading in that blue screen.
I downloaded and installed a program called freetype. That seems to have fixed the problem.
