If you have the burning crusade level in World of Warcraft and you download the wrath of the lich king free trial do you have to upgrade before you can play again?

If you wish to continue using Wrath of the Lich King, then yes you have to buy the full package and upgrade your current account. If not, your account should simply be playable but without any WotLK features.
