If you install visual studio 2005 pro on a computer with visual studio 2005 express already on it will it update the express to pro or will both version be available on the computer?

Both will be available on the computer (sadly.) As an example, people who do personal programming targetting the XNA framework (the Microsoft gaming package for the Xbox 360) install the XNA Express package, which is built on top of Visual Studio C# Express. Those of us with the professional versions have to deal with having both on our machine, since it won't work with the Team Edition of Visual Studio that I have.

When you install something you have to download everything and place it on the computer and stuff, but when you uninstall all you are doing is deleting it off your computer.
