I have got one word for you: LOOK. Try to retrace your steps. Think of clues to know if it's in your house. If you lost it at a theme park or something, I'm sorry but it's probably lost for good.

If you lost 50 pounds it would be really noticeable. Your face and stomach would be smaller than it was before.
Follow back where you have last been and look under everything that you have been near.
if you're refering to when you lose something, the past tense would be you have lost something.
