It's not a question of age. It's a question of personal safety. You have to think of your own situation and ask yourself how would they react to this. if you think that they would react badly enough to take away privileges or even kick you out of the house, then you might want to wait until you're 18 so you can live on your own just in case. if you feel like they would react well to it, then any age is appropriate.
