Explode? No, maybe under pressure or in a closed, airtight container...I'm not sure about that situation but under normal circumstance, the vinegar poured on baking soda will bubble and make a sizzling sound.
The combination makes for an excellent eco-friendly cleaner, I use it for everything from getting grease off the stove top to cleaning the toilet. Works great, non-toxic and cheap!
There is no explosion but the reaction of the acid (vinegar) and the base (baking soda) is rather violent.
I'm quoting some one here so bear with me.
"Vinegar is acetic acid: CH3COOH
Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate: NaHCO3
Mixing the two is simply and acid base reaction.
CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ---> CH3COONa + H2CO3
That last product is carbonic acid which quickly decomposes into
carbon dioxide and water:
H2CO3 ---> H2O + CO2
The CO2 is what you see foaming and bubbling in this reaction."
The mixture results in formation of a gas (CO2), in small little bubbles formed all in the mix. When the bubbles all start forming at once they increase the pressure of the entire system, therefore if you have a soda and vinegar mix within a closed container, you have not only an acid-base reaction, but formation of CO2 gas, which increases pressure in the container and may force it to pop open, often taking a lot of the mixture with it.
Note that this is NOT typical of acid-base reactions, as normally they are not visible, although heat is produced.
Well, vinegar and baking soda explode because the acid in the vinegar diffuses with the soda which causes a chemical reaction. This is also a irreversible chemical reaction which means you can't undo it.
No it will not explode because the acid and the base is violent.
because baking soda is an a base and vinegar is an acid and when they combine salty water and carbon dioxide left remained
One of the products of this reaction is Carbon Dioxide gas. This is what the bubbling is.
When baking soda (a base) mixes with vinegar (an acid) they react. Not explode.
Because you put vinegar and baking soda in like a jar or pot right? Well that means that the acid in vinegar and the Sodium, hydrogen, ocygen and carbon in Baking soda, when all mixed together, the atoms start moving faster and faster and they want a bigger area so they explode
The evolution of GASeous carbon dioxide:
CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ---> CH3COONa + H2O + CO2,gas
The acetic acid (what makes vinegar sour) reacts with sodium bicarbonate (a compound that's in baking soda) to form carbonic acid. It's really a double replacement reaction. Carbonic acid is unstable, and it immediately falls apart into carbon dioxide and water (it's a decomposition reaction). The bubbles you see from the reaction come from the carbon dioxide escaping the solution that is left. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air, so, it flows almost like water when it overflows the container. It is a gas that you exhale (though in small amounts), because it is a product of the reactions that keep your body going. What's left is a dilute solution of sodium acetate in water.
because baking soda is an a base and vinegar is an acid, when they combine salty water and carbon dioxide remain. It's a standard "neutralisation" reaction.
.
no beacause it will foama nd not blow gas (dont really listen im guessing)
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) react with vinegar (acetic acid solution) but an explosion is very improbable.
you mix them both together in a cup or bottle . done it so many times really fun but make sure you stay at least 4 feet away
If you vaporize them or freeze the vinegar first. They will always react at room temperature.
Baking soda and vinegar!
explode
Because there is probably vinegar in it.
Because people put in baking soda, vinegar and red food coloring in the volcano. The baking soda and vinegar makes it explode
They explode because of the baking soda and vinegar mixed in and when there together BOOM.
Try it
Baking soda vinegar glue paper
no it willl explode
baking soda and vinegar put the baking soda in first
first you put the baking soda in the model then you put in the vinigar and watch it explode into a million peices
When you put dry spaghetti in a mixture of vinegar and baking soda, it will make the spaghetti float! I wouldn't eat the pasta, however!
Acid in vinegar reacts with sodium monohydrogencarbonate (baking soda) which is present in mentos.
