Yes. A varnish made with one pound of sulphur boiled for half an hour in an iron vessel is a perfect. It should be applied with a brush, while warm.
This is the fumes that paint and varnish give off when they are applied. As the paint cures, the fumes will go away. You can open up the area windows.

Lacquer can cause the paint to bubble or crack due to the very hot solvent that is a part of lacquer. If you want a clear coat over paint, a better choice is spar varnish over oil base paint and arcylic urethane over latex.

It would help to know what your driveway is made of (blacktop, brick, concrete, etc.) The best thing you could use would be "Lime Away" they sell it any big box store or even Walmart & Target may carry it. It is safe on brick & concrete, pour a little bit directly onto the stain & rub with a wire brush, just hose away! Of course if your driveway is black top just get a can of black spray paint, or seal coat it.

'The paint wore away from acid rain corrosion' is not really English. Sort out the sentence before worrying about transitive/intransitive. Do you mean 'The paint was worn away by acid rain corrosion'? That would be intransitive, I think. 'Acid rain corrosion wore away the paint' would be transitive. Hope this helps.
