It depends on how close your book is to the original - you probably won't be able to sell such a book because the publishers would say "This is just like that other book" and not want it. However, you can't copyright an idea so you could write the book so long as you don't copy too much.

As long as you're not directly copying text from the original book or infringing on any copyright protections, it's generally acceptable to use a similar concept or plot in your own work. Just make sure to add your unique spin, characters, and plot twists to make it your own original story.
