The piston or spring on the thermostat could be stuck.
The thermostat is located where the hose leaves the engine to go to the top of the radiator. You unscrew the bolts holding the hose mounting to the engine. There you find the thermostat.
On a 1997 Oldsmobile 88, the thermostat is located at the engine's front, where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine block. To access it, you typically need to remove the upper radiator hose and the thermostat housing. It's advisable to allow the engine to cool before attempting to replace the thermostat to avoid burns.
Follow the top radiator hose over to the engine and where it connects to the thermostat housing. There should be two bolts holding the housing to the motor. Remove the housing and replace the thermostat and gasket. The larger side of the thermo goes in the engine.
To replace the thermostat on a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada, first ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the coolant from the radiator, then remove the upper radiator hose connected to the thermostat housing. Unscrew the thermostat housing, replace the old thermostat with a new one (ensuring the rubber gasket is in place), reassemble the housing, reconnect the hose, and refill the coolant before reconnecting the battery. Finally, start the engine and check for leaks.
The thermostat is located on a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero in the thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is located on the rear side of the engine block.
On a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with a 3.3-liter V6 engine, the thermostat is located on the engine block at the end of the upper radiator hose. To access it, you'll need to remove the hose from the thermostat housing. Once the housing is exposed, you can unscrew it to replace the thermostat. Make sure to allow the engine to cool before starting this process to avoid burns.
Not sure what year you have but on my 1984 its on top of the engine. Under the dome at the end of the radiator hose. There are 2 bolts that have to be removed in order to get to the thermostat. On a 1998 model, follow the top radiator hose to the engine. The hose attaches to an aluminum elbow with a brass slotted screw on top (the slotted screw is loosened to let air out of the cooling system). Remove the two bolts to take off the aluminum elbow and there will be your thermostat.
In the 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva, the thermostat is located in the engine compartment, specifically on the engine's water outlet housing, which is typically near the top of the engine. To access it, you may need to remove the upper radiator hose that connects to the thermostat housing. It's advisable to have the engine cool before attempting to replace the thermostat to avoid burns or injury.
You didnt say what year and what engine
The 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra thermostat is located on the front of the engine. You can follow the water supply line from the radiator to the thermostat housing.
how do you get the throttle body off so I can reach the thermostat house to replace the thermostat? Does the exhaust shield also need to come off? I have removed one bolt and two nuts on the throttle housing, are there more ? I can't find them.
This depends on year and engine Basically follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine and the thermostat is inside that casing.
