dry quarts or sometimes they are sold by the pound
25 cents. It's gold-plated but not gold. It's an ordinary quarter that was plated with a tiny amount of gold and sold as a "collectible". If you think about it for a few seconds, a circulating gold quarter would be worth hundreds of dollars given the current price of the metal. Not even the densest bureaucrat would authorize a coin worth that much and put it into circulation for 25 cents.
Genuine US bullion gold pieces are sold by troy ounces rather than grams, so your "coin" is almost certainly something issued by a private company, and the $25 denomination is artificial. Without knowing how much of that 1.5 gm weight is pure gold it's very difficult to say how much it's worth. It's not likely to be high purity (e.g. 99.9%) but taking that as an upper limit and using an average gold price of US$1600/troy oz (31.11 gm), its absolute maximum value would be around $75. In reality it's probably less pure than that, and its value to a collector or investor would also depend on how much demand there is for products from the company that issued it.
Gold is bought and sold based on the weight - be it per ounce or per gram. The ring would have to be weighed and the price calculated based on the price of gold that day.
If we are discussing a gold ring and the ring is 18 carat gold (fairly pure: 18/24 by weight gold) and "they" are paying only for the gold content then there are 4 * 18/24 = 3 grams of gold "they" are going to pay you for. Gold is measured in "troy oz", not avoirdupois ounces like most everything else! There are 31.1 grams in 1 troy oz so your ring has about one tenth of an ounce of gold in it. You will get about 140 (dollars?) for it.
yes it can. depending on how much the gold weight would be after melted down.
210 bells
If you bought a quarter pound and sold it all in eighths that weighed 3.5 grams then you would make about 1,280 dollars. But only if the quarter pound you bought weighed out at exactly 112 grams though.
How much was a 1986 one ounce of gold proof set sold in 1986?
Friday, October 1, 2010, 100 gram gold bars sold for Us dollar $4300. Therefore, 1000 grams (1 kilogram) is worth US dollar $43,000. So the 50 kilogram statue would be worth US dollar $2,150,000. That is, if the statue IS 24 karat gold, (and not 18 Karat gold).
