Why would you do that? Don't use a tampon unless you need one. Tampons carry risks and one of them is a bacterial infection that can kill you. Leaving a tampon in too long causes the bacteria to build up and it can reach your blood stream killing you or it could affect your having a baby later because of the infection reaching your ovaries or Fallopian tubes. If there is no need to wear one DON"T USE IT. Actually, doctors today tell young girls not to use them until they are much older.

Tampons should not be worn when not on a period ( read the tampon box) and young girls just starting their periods should not use tampons for a year or two. There is a bacteria infection that is caused by tampons when not worn correctly or too long. It is called Toxic shock syndrome and it can kill if the bacteria builds and enters the blood stream.

∙ 7y agoTampons should never be used when not menstruating, there's absolutely no need to use tampons unless menstruating (or experiencing a withdrawal bleed, if you're using hormonal birth control). The biggest risk when using tampons without menstruating is developing Toxic Shock Syndrome, this doesn't impact fertility but it is potentially fatal - if dead you can't have a baby.
