Probably you are using the board as a lever.
It is used to lift a heavy object. Place the end of the lever under the rock. Then move a fulcrum (for example a small rock) under the lever close to where it goes under the rock. By moving your end of the lever a lot, you can make the shorter end move a little and lift a heavy weight.
If we use a inclined plane to lift a object then the amount of energy used decreases applied force and wok
Wood is often used to store things on or lift with as it is strong enough, yet has a bit of flexibility. The surface of the wood is quite forgiving, in the sense that it is less likely to damage heavy goods, unlike metal on metal. ^^^^^ This above doesnt explain the physics really behind it. We use a length of wood to lift heavy loads due to the leverage it creates. This comes from the principle of moments. When there is a greatr distance from the pivot, this means that there will be less force needed to lift the heavy load upon the plank of wood at the fulcrum. The same applies for why we use a wrench to screw something and not our fingers. This increases the distance from the pivot, and thus we can exert less force upon the pivot to turn the screw. Hopefully this analogy worked for you.
The force required to lift the object is much less than otherwise. One might see this surprising. How the use of a ramp can decrease the force required to lift an object? The answer is that the distance the object has to moved is longer. This means that the work done in both cases is the same.(assuming there is no resistive forces) (Work done = Force x distance moved in the direction of the force) In practice however, due to friction, the total work done may actually be greater, but the decrease in the applied force is indeed worth it. A system of pulleys also uses this principle, as well as hydraulic systems.
the force, otherwise the rock would not move.
an odd leg caliper is a object we use to lift heavy babies of cliffs because they are too ugly to even look at.
The table was so heavy (having a lot of weight) , my uncle couldn't lift it. :(
You always lift with your legs, NEVER your back. If you lift with your back you will cause your back injury. To lift anything heavy, you bend down, having your back in a straight up and down position and place your feet at about 2 feet apart, bending your legs down. Then you lift.. If manually moving things with your hands, you use the same technique above otherwise if things are to heavy for you to life, use a manual fork lift or machine operated fork lift. You can also use the buddy system, using two people to lift a heavy object, using the same technique above for both people is always safer then trying to lift something that is really heavy by yourself.
To lift heavy object correctly means protecting the back and waist from strain and the ensuring that the full loading on you is on the muscles (of the legs and hands). To lift correctly, come as close as possible to the load. Keep the back as straight as you can. Lower the waist as low as possible and position your legs to carry the loading on you. Grab the load and lift. Spring and move your legs to reposition to required position.

Sailors used a pulley called "block and tackle" to lift heavy cargo.
Inclined plane are just fancy words for a ramp. By using an inclined plane you could slide the heavy object down it or you could carry it down it instead of having to use steps or lift it from a decent height, thus lowering the risk of injury.

You can use an adequate balance for this weight.

If you wish to lift a heavy box, the main safety precaution is to squat down close to the box, rather than bending over to reach it, and then lift it by using your legs, rather than your back. The human back muscles are quite strong, but the spine can be injured by over exertion, and chronic back ache is a very common problem that people develop. Other than that, boxes are easier to lift if you tie them up with strong twine or cord, which you can then hold onto. If the box is seriously heavy it might even take two people to lift it. It is probably a good idea to make sure that you know in advance where you are going to put the box once you have lifted it; this is not something that you will want to have to figure out while you are holding a heavy box. Try not to work in cluttered conditions. You do not want to trip over something while holding a heavy box. Remember that the box alters your balance and also hides part of the floor from your view. And if the box is really too heavy for you, it may be possible to simply unpack it, and pack the contents into two or more smaller boxes.
