If you were on the bridge of the Titanic what would you have done to miss the iceberg?

20/20 hindsight being what it is, here is my answer to the question.
Once notified of the iceberg off the starboard bow I would have increased speed to maximum and issued the following helm command: left full rudder or as was the case back then hard a starboard since they used tiller commands versus rudder commands. This may seem strange to some, but it actually does make sense. The Titanic was a triple-screw vessel meaning it had three propellers, the outer two propellers being driven by two triple-expansion steam engines whereas the third propeller was driven by a steam turbine. The steam turbine-driven propeller was situated just in front of the rudder - the piece of steel used to steer Titanic. This propeller only operated in the "Ahead" direction; meaning that if the engines were reversed, as was the case that fateful night, this propeller would not have turned at all.
Increasing the forward speed to maximum and putting the rudder full left made use of the 3rd propeller to make the Titanics rather small rudder, for the size of the ship, work more efficiently. Titanic may have missed the iceberg and once it did I would have issued an All Stop order to survey the surrounding waters for any other icebergs.

Well done with the names, btw. There was little that could have been done, actually. Even an iceberg of that size couldn't have been seen from the bridge so Hichens never had a chance in that respect. Also, there was less than forty seconds between the sighting and the impact so again, little could be done.

Despite common rumor, not much. If he had gone slower, yes they would have noticed it from farther away, but it would have been harder to turn it away from the iceberg! And no, he was not going the fastest Titanic was expected to go. Titanic was never run at its highest speed, it never got the chance. They were expecting to hit top speed the next day. And ramming into it head first would have saved it from sinking (probably), but it would have killed everyone working in the front of the ship.

They could have taken a different route to new york or they could have saw the iceberg and tried to go around it

Several ships nearby sent out signals to tell them to change course to avoid the icebergs, but the Titanic did not listen and just kept on going until they collided with one.

No- technically she was working perfectly, and no technical problems played any part in her sinking, it was entirely due to the iceberg collision. In fact, her pumps worked so well that they actually delayed her sinking by at least half an hour, enabling more people to get of saely than would otherwise have done.

The taitanic sank because the ribets in the front were done by hand not by machine like the rest of them, the ribets were weaker so they broke in the front and it just followed through.
