It depends on how old the game is, and what type of processor it calls for. For instance, a 2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo is faster than a Pentium 4 at 3.0 GHz. And many older AMD processors had comparable performance to Intel processor that were more than a gigahertz "ahead" of them. For instance, a 2.0 GHz AMD Athlon 64 3200+ was faster in many situations than a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4.
