All people listed in a will have to be notified through newspaper ads or attempted to be served and/or found. If you are not listed in the will, the probate attorney still has to make an effort to find immediate family members.

∙ 15y agoIf dad owned real property his estate will need to be probated so that title to the real property will pass to his heirs. Keep checking with the probate court in his jurisdiction to see if a probate has been filed. Once the case has been filed you should receive notice of the proceeding. Also, once the case has been filed the will becomes a public document and you can request to see the file and read the will.
