Unfortunately, if your husband filed for divorce he means business and wants to end the marriage and it would be wise to see a lawyer to be sure you get what is due you. If he wanted time for both of you to live on your own and think things out he would have only filed for a separation. A small percentage of people remarry their divorced mate sometime in the future.
I thinks it's alright. But there could be something wrong with it. Ask your lawyer or something.
Yes, you can still get a divorce. You need to contact your husband so the correct papers can be signed from your lawyer.
You would usually need to file for divorce in the state in which you were married. If your spouse lives in a different state, he can file in that state.

You either get a local lawyer in SA to employ an English lawyer to do it, or you hire an English lawyer yourself. For uncontested divorces you just need to provide the relevant information and signatures.
I retained a divorce lawyer (without any kind of money) and it went on for 2 years and some lawyers won't charge you until the case is settled. I finally took the bull by the horns, went to my lawyer and told him to get off his butt! I wasn't happy with the slow pace in which my lawyer was dealing with the divorce as there were no children or properties/monies involved. I marched down to his office and blasted him and I sat there while he phoned my husband's divorce lawyer. Since my husband was the one that was cheating and I proved it, all I had to do was to have my lawyer tell my husband's lawyer that he could foot the bill for the divorce or I would Contest the Divorce! Even though I was going for the divorce myself, I could have tied my ex up in court for as long as 3 years. I was smart enough to realize he had a mistress on the side putting the heat on him, so I went for "contesting" and won. I do live in British Columbia, Canada, so if you are American your laws could be a little different. I suggest you go onto: Type in: What are some ways you can pay a lawyer's retaining fee? Marcy
Husband moved to flordia establishing resadency, takes 189 days. I beleive that he will file for divorce. I live in nj, are the laws different in Fl, as to the division of monies?
* The best thing to do is see a lawyer and your husband's lawyer and your lawyer will decide who gets what and if any children are involved who they will live with or if there will be joint custody.
