The "eye" creature, or lava snake, or segmented creature, is inside the volcano. To get past it, you have to jump when it is fully extended. Wait for it to ROLL toward you and step back. When it unrolls flat, jump over it.

You have to jump onto the rocks and don't fall into the lava. It will lead you to the volcano.
