How can you tell if your pet rat is unhappy?

You know your rat is depressed when he or she is not even touching their food or their water. Also, if they are sleeping all during the day and night. Even though rats are nocturnal, they should still be moving around partly through the day, and they shouldn't be wanting to sleep if you are playing with him. The solution for this problem, is some rodent company. So, for the sake of your pet rat, you should consider buying him a playmate. If you do, your rat should be back to normal in 2-3 days. If you get a playmate, even if they are in separate cages, taking them out to play and visit for a couple hours a day, will help your rat become content.
