If it is stuck closed, the lack of coolant can cause the water pump to break down due to no lubrication, in which case you can temporaroly remove it until you can get a new one. If it is stuck open, it probably will not cause any damage. If it is physically damaged and internals are falling apart, you probably have serious problems.

Water heater thermostat defective?

Of course a water heater thermostat would be defective as water heaters / hydronic boilers would use an Aqua Stat

Would it be bad to drive a long distance with the themostat broke or water pump on a Mazda millenia?

if the water pump is broke, you wont be driving for very long. probably about 15 miles, depending on how warm it is. then the engine will lock up forever. if the thermostat is broke, and it is closed, then the coolant wont circulate, and it will go a bit farther before it locks up. if the stat is broke open, then it will run, but it will run rich for a long time.

How would you know if a water pump was causing a Kubota tractor to overheat with no thermostat?

If you are unsure if it is heating because of a water pump or a thermstat, you can find out by removing the thermostat. If it still heats without a thermostat, then you know it is the water pump. Without a thermostat, the water flow has nothing to cause it to heat unless the water pump fails to circulate the water. No circulation of the water would cause the over heating.

What would make a hot water heater all the sudden get really hot?

Someone turned up the thermostat, or the thermostat has failed. The thermostat tells the heater what temp to keep the water at.

Would a blocked thermostat force water out radiator?

No, a blocked thermostat would not force water out of the radiator. A blocked thermostat would prevent the proper flow of coolant through the engine, leading to overheating and potential damage to the engine. Water may overflow from the radiator due to other issues like a malfunctioning radiator cap or pressure buildup.

Why would an electric water heater overheat the water and not cycle to shut off when water is warmed to temp thermostat is set for?

You need a new thermostat inside the electric hot water tank, as it is faulty. There is also a reset button on the thermostat that you could try. Does it heat up until the water boils?

When My vauxhall frontera overheats with thermostat in place when i take the thermostat out it runs normal would you say that the thermostat is not opening?

Absolutely. I would definitely replace this. You can check this by making sure that when you remove the thermostat it is cold and then dropping the thermostat into a bowl of boiling hot water and see if it reacts..... if it doesn't then that's the problem! If it does then flush the coolant system through with some radiator flush and then flush through with clean water before renewing antifreeze and water.

How do you change water pump in 1987 VW Golf 1800 Sport and would a faulty water-pump or thermostat cause water in tank to boil?

A faulty rad fan could have the same effect if pump isn't leaking or making some sick noise its fine thermostat is cheap and easy to replace so go ahead and do it just to eliminate it as the problem good luck.

What is a effect?

Why would a van overheat after changing the thermostat and water pump?

Assuming it did not overheat before you replaced thermostat and water pump you may have installed the thermostat backwards. It is also possible the cooling system wasn't refilled properly and was air bound.
