Sorry, but no one is likely to search the individual statutes of all 50 states for you for this answer. Suffice it to say that in most states (MAYBE not all) it is lawful to possess a bullet-proof vest - PROVIDING you are not wearing it during the commission of a crime. If it is THAT important to you, contact your local law enforcement agency in YOUR state and simply ask.
Yes as long as it is not worn while committing or attempting to commit a crime. Also you cannot be a convicted felon.
Every civillian has the right to own body armor (Age 18+), the only exception to this is if you are a felon, some states allow felons to own body armor others do not.
It depends on where you are. In the U.S. there is no requirement of a license to own a bullet proof vest by federal law, and most states have no requirement for it. It is illegal to wear a bullet proof vest during the commission of a crime, and felons can't own bullet proof vests (I can't recall if that's state or federal laws), but otherwise, anyone can buy a vest.
It is legal in most states for individuals without a prior felony conviction to own a bullet proof vest.
Not using it to commit a crime no problem. You look kinda funny and please remember, they are not bullet proof. They are bullet resistant and only up to a certain level defined by its classification. Most police wear a level IIa
You must work in law enforcement in order to buy a bulletproof vest. It is against the law otherwise. You can't purchase a bulletproof vest online without certifying that you work in law enforcement.
It's legal to own one and/or wear one as long as you aren't using it during the commission of a crime.
Yes. Contrary to popular belief, bullet proof vests are legal and available to the general public. It is illegal to wear a BPV while committing a crime in most states, and a few states prohibit possession of BPVs by felons.
In my opioion I think you should be alloud
Contact your probation officer on this question. Many states DO prohibit convicted persons, and persons released on parole/probation from owning such items.
bullet proof vests are considered a Category E Weapon. You need a genuine reason and and Police need to agree to the genuine need. If you are caught with one and do not have approval it is considered similar to having illegal (actual) weapons. Odd, huh?
BOTH my parents are CHICAGO police SERGEANTS. n i also know a lot of CHICAGO police because of this... all of them told me it is COMPLETELY LEGAL to OWN/WEAR a bulletproof vest AS LONG AS its not during the commission of a CRIME or as long as you are not a Felon or have a WARRANT issued for your ARREST.
Not any more than any other product you may have. Bullet proof vests are legal to own in the U.S. unless you are a felon (in some states) or are using it while committing a crime. Generally speaking, you don't have to keep proof of products you have bought on you, and the only reason you should have a problem is if an officer thinks it's stolen for some reason.
It has to be government issued just like a gun. Its harder to get one tho and not all states allow regular citizens to have one. Its usually only for law inforcement or someone that's proved that there life is in jeapordy Ummm...In the U.S. guns aren't "government issued." I'm not sure what you mean by that. Anybody can order a bullet proof vest. There are a couple of places online and there are usually ads in the back of gun magazines. That said, I don't know about Virginia law, but vests are legal in most states.
