In the oldest and best manuscripts, the epistle is simply addressed to the 'saints', without mentioning 'in Ephesus', so the reference to Ephesus is considered likely to be a later interpolation. From this and the nature of the epistle, it is believed it was really written as an encyclical to the entire Christian community. Because he had no particular community in mind in writing the letter, its author signs off quite impersonally, without mentioning the names of any people he would like to greet.

Harold Hoehner (Ephesians: An Exegetical Commentary) explains that the first doubt of Pauline authorship was introduced in 1792 by the English clergyman Evanson who felt it was inconsistent for the writer of Ephesians to claim he had heard of their faith (Ephesians 1:15-16) when according to Acts Paul had spent more than two years at Ephesus. He could see that, based on what Acts of the Apostles says, Paul could not have written this epistle. It is now thought to have been written in Paul's name, in the eighties of the first century.

What kind of epistles are Ephesians and Colossians?

Ephesians and Colossians are both Pauline epistles, meaning they are letters written by the Apostle Paul. Ephesians is a general epistle, addressing the church as a whole and focusing on themes of unity, salvation, and spiritual warfare. Colossians is a specific epistle, written to the church in Colossae and addressing issues of false teachings and the supremacy of Christ.

Why is the story of the Ephesians in the Bible?

The epistle to the Ephesians touches almost every aspect of the Christian's life. In view of the present-day upsurge of distressing problems and delinquency in the world, Paul's sound, practical advice is of real benefit to those who desire to live godly lives. How should children conduct themselves toward parents, and parents toward children? What are the responsibilities of a husband toward his wife, and of a wife toward her husband? What must the individuals in the congregation do in order to maintain unity in love and Christian purity in the midst of a wicked world? Paul's counsel covers all these questions, and he goes on to show what is involved in putting on the new Christian personality. Through the study of Ephesians, all will be able to gain real appreciation for the kind of personality that is pleasing to God. (Ephesians 4:24-32; 6:1-4; 5:3-5, 15-20, 22-33)

If Paul is your cousin what is his relationship with your mother?

If Paul is your first cousin, then he is your mother's nephew, and she is Paul's aunt.If Paul is your second cousin, then he is your mother's first cousin, once removed, (if he and your mother are descended from one of her grandparents) or he is not related to your mother (if he is your cousin because of a relationship on your father's side of the family.)If Paul is your first cousin, once removed, then he is your mother's first cousin or he is related to your father and not to your mother.Other relationships apply depending on what other kind of cousin Paul is to you, always with the possibility that Paul is not related to your mother at all - because your relationship to him comes through your father.

What are humans saved by according to Christian Paul?

I think the answer to your question is by the grace of God. Sorry if I've misguided you! Answer: Paul was adamant that salvation is given by the grace of God and there is nothing a person can do to earn any kind of merit with God. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Ephesians 2:9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. Gaatiansl 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."
