The original problem in Animal Farm is that Mr. Jones, the owner of the farm, treats the animals cruelly and they don't like it.
Old Major is angered by the fact that all the animals are inferior to Mr. Jones. Old Major encourages that animals to start a rebellion to rid themselves of Jones' rule so that they can all be equal
On animal farms the main problem is that there might be an overpopulation of some of the animals or there might be some type of virus that kills many or there just might be no control how to keep the predators away from the animals at night or even in the day.
