apparently it is because i did, and it was only three minutes before curfew ended..
Normally you should not be arrested until you have done something wrong and illegal. But there are certain exceptions to this rule. You can be arrested if an officer believes you are about to do something illegal.
It may be that the officer knew you were not going to be able to get home in the time you had left before curfew. He may have been saving himself from waiting the minutes until curfew started. This may be appropriate if he had more important things waiting for him.
I guess this was not the case though as arresting you caused him to take up his time dealing with you. I am not sure if he just took you home and de-arrested you with a warning, or if he took you to the police station and had your parents come and collect you.
