This is a most misunderstood Scripture. In the figurative language of the day, 'children' is a metaphor to the 12 tribes of Israel and 'dogs' refers to Gentiles who do not believe. The account in Matthew shows Jesus' commitment to the children of Israel. The Gentile woman had no natural/physical claim upon the Jewish Messiah. Jesus came determined to give the first opportunity to accept Him as their Messiah to the Jews. Yet this woman approached Jesus to cure her severely demon-possessed daughter.
By the woman's reply to this in Matthew 15:27 shows she did not get furious with the terminology probably understanding it true intent. She wanted to hear the 'crumbs' of Jesus' teaching. For this wonderful act of faith on her part, Jesus said, 'great is your faith!' A faith He rarely found in His ministry amongst His own! He said, 'Let it be to you as you desire.' The woman's daughter was healed.
A parallel account is in Mark 7. Many use these Scripture as Jesus insulting the woman purposely. Yet, a contextual read will reveal it to be a 'test' of her faith.
The Son of Man did not come to hurt anyone but to heal. He did not come to do evil but only good. He suffered for the ignorance of the people who have gone astray and willingly lowered Himself from the 2nd most powerful position of all to a lowly, common man. He submitted to ridicule, torture beyond recognition, and a cursed crucifixion on the tree. All for each and every one of us. No, Jesus would never wrong a future son or daughter of His Father - His future brothers and sisters. To say He did some evil in these verses shows a terrible lack of understanding of this Man of God and of the Scripture.
Both. Jesus was both the son of God and, in the human sense, descended from David.
do you mean OTHER than Judas ?Judas wasn't the only one who betrayed Jesus.. If you think about it, all his apostles did too.. Where were they when he was crucified? hiding? Judas was the one who didn't know how to handle it. -p.rabJudas one of His disciples.Judas.
St Matthew became a saint because he was one of the four gospel writers, and one of Jesus helpers, and also St Matthew preached the Good News, even after Jesus was crucified
