There is no settings button on the psp, the setting are on the main menu.
You hit the "on" button (the one on top) or the home button. You can't erase the settings. You are just erasing the information.
Pressing the Home button will take you out of settings and back to the Home Screen.
To save the settings on action alert, you will first need to make some sort of change to the settings. After that, there may only be an OK or continue button. This will save the settings without actually needing to hit some kind of a save button.
