hi my opinion is that to compare the starters it must lern its last move. turtwig is the best.it takes some time to evolve to grotle but by that time of lv18 he's gt some key moves.they are razor leaf, tackle ,absorb,withdraw. its easy to train it and evolves to toterra on lv32.then he knows bite and earthquake and mega drain.bite and razor leaf can be used as a basic move. earthquake is a great move, just one shot. when prinpplup evolves to empoleon he learns just aqua jet.[40 power] .then torterra learns crunch, giga drain and finally leaf storm. chimchar evlves early at lv14 but must take great pain to evolve to infernape at lv38. he's got good moves but his last move is not as good as torterras. empoleon's last move hydropump is awesme but hartd to keep up. well you add some additional tms and make your starter powerful. by lv 100 my torterra got, Frency plant,

leaf storm, solar beam and crunch. solar beams a tm. frency plant is its ultimate move. i hope this helped you alot.

• Empoleon is better than torterra and infernape.
• Torterra: Torterra: It may be better than empoleon in grass against water, but Empoleon can use ice moves which is REALLY super effective.
• Infernape: Just use water moves or flying moves which are both super effective.

Turtwig (Torterra): Torterra has high attack and defense but low speed. It is probably the hardest to have.

Chimchar (Infernape): I would recommend if you want to get through the game the fastest. It has the best attack, and speed

Piplup (Empoleon):It is all around, but with more defense and sp atk than speed and atk.

Well, this question is basically a matter of opinion. I chose the cute water-type penguin Pokemon Piplup. However, most people I talk to all agree that Chimchar is the best starter Pokemon. I suppose this is a mater of controversy. Piplup's final evolutrion is Empoleon (water-steel). Chimchar's final evolution is Infernape (fire-fighting). Piplup/Prinplup/Empoleon is best against the gym leaders: Roark, Maylene, Fantina, and Bryon. Arguably, it's good against all the gym leaders, but other Pokemon like Shinx/Luxio/Luxray, Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam, and Starly/Staravia/Staraptor are good too. Chimchar/Monferno/Infernape is good against the gym leader Roark, ONLY if it knows the fighting move "Mach Punch", which is super-effective against rock/ground types, Gardenia, Fantina, Bryon, and Candice. It's a very good Pokemon. I think most of us agree that Turtwig/Grotle/Torterra is probably the weakest out of the three. However, it is a very good Pokemon, especially when it is a Torterra. It is good against gym leaders: Roark, Crasher Wake, Bryon, and Candice. It also has a lot of weaknesses: flying, physic, poison, fire.

It's up to you. I would most probably choose Piplup or Chimcar. Water type is a great type.
