In Pokemon HeartGold how do you get new areas for the pokewalker?

It's all about watts...
Every time you're pokewalker records 20 steps, you get one watt. Watts can be used to help find Pokemon (-10 watts) or items (-3 watts). When you return your Pokemon from a trip, the Heartgold/ Soulsilver cartridge records the remaining watts you have on your pokewalker. Then, depending on the number of watts-in-total recorded, you get new routes that you can use the next time you put a Pokemon in the walker.

No, there is no possible way to get your Pokémon back that is in your Pokéwalker if you have started a new game in Pokémon HeartGold or SoulSilver.
What are watts in Pokemon HeartGold?
Watts are associated with the exclusive Pokewalker. Every twenty steps you take make one Watt, and once you get a certain number of Watts you can unlock new places. The Pokewalker is exclusive to HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Can you use the poke walker with Pokemon Black version?
It has been neither confirmed nor denied, though if you cannot then you can probably trade Pokemon over to HeartGold and SoulSilver to transfer onto it. There have been no announcements of the Pokewalker to be included with Pokemon Black and White. Since Pokemon Black and White feature new Pokemon, not obtainable in HeartGold or SoulSilver, then the chances of the Pokewalker being compatible with Pokemon Black and White is low. The only other solution is for Nintendo to make a new Pokewalker device to work along side Pokemon Black and White.

no you can not, it doesn't work that work that when you delete the file that has the certain Pokemon you put in the pokewalker you wouldn't be able to send to the new game. you'd have to reset the pokewalker and delete all data in it. (including the Pokemon)
What happens if you reset your pokewalker?
If you reset your pokewalker your Pokemon will go and all your data will be deleted. That includes the steps places and watts. DONT BOTHER DOING IT UNLESS YOUR HAVE STARTED A NEW SAVE AND THERE IS A POKEMON ON THE POKEWALKER WITH A POKEMON ON IT!!!

no the pokewalker can only be to one safe file. if you delete the file with a Pokemon in the poke walker then you would either have to keep the Pokemon in the pokewalker or delete the new Pokemon so you can link it up to the new game

yea though first you have to reset pokewalker or else its not gonna be compatible when you start a new game.
